I would like to share my interest for old analog recording media with people, who enter this site telling them about that stuff.
I have a great collection of cassette- and reel tapes, as well as old records of 78/45/33 rpm, respectively.
I have tried to improve the quality of the old recordings.
When i transfered those analog recording to CD format I discovered diferent posibilites of processing the sound and do some remasterings. You can correct, and repaire the outdated sound pretty much. My intention is to remaster a great parts of my old recordings on cassete-, reel tapes and vinyls and obtain a better and restored cuality.
There is a lot of good music on those old media. I have used equalizer, compressor and limiter for obtaining good improvements. All those tings you can do it yourself on your own computer equipment with some sound software.
Further I have a great passion for old analog synthesizer and love to play music with those instrument. They use to have a much varmer sound than the modern digital syntesizers.
They have a good recording quality, speciallly for multitrack recordings. I used to use a Fostex 8 multi track recorder for 8 track recordings.
They have a less good recording quality. But anyway they can be used for multitrack recordings. I used a fostex 4 for making 4 track recordings.
There are the old laquere records and the vinyl records. The vinyl record has become a trendy media for newer music recordings. A lot of musicians prefer to release theire music on vinyl. They prefer this sound more than the too clean and compressed sound from the CD-releases.
In my sparetime I also like to do some soundesign and sound effekts. I have a long experience with analog equipments programming old synthesizers from the 70’ies and 80’es for sound design.
Behind the pseudonym Rey, you find a Spanish/Danish musician of ambiental music. His music can be described as atmospheric and relaxing melodies. His music takes you to a world of mystical ambiences and soundscapes.
Tangerine Dream , Brian Eno , Future Sound of London and Biosphere are some of the groups which have inspired Rey’s music, which have many links to the early years of electronic music.
The tracks are also inspired by the decades of the ‘70s and ‘80s. It may be characterized as experimental, breaking away from the current styles of electronic music and mixed with rhythms from the end of the ‘90s.
The music has further influences from more melodious styles with major variation of rhythms and influence from contemporary Ambient and Chil Out music. Among Rey’s other works are his remarkable arrangements of compositions of Mike Oldfield, Tangerine Dream, Giorgio Moroder and Didier Marouani.
He has also esperimented with trance music and other electronic music styles.
Rey began his musical experiments in 1984 making electronic circuits buying electronic components like transistors and diodes which he puted together with generators, oscilators, filters and pre-amps. With these circuits he built his own instruments and keyboards. But those instruments had their limitations. They were okay for sound effects but not for creating music.
Therefore, in 1986, Rey purchased his first synthesizer, a Yamaha CS 30 L. It was a monophonic instrument, but with a lot of oscillators, envelopes and important electronic circuits. It was excellent for creating music with suitable effects, but he needed also an instrument for playing cords, and this, indeed was impossible on the Yamaha, which was monofonic. His second instrument was therefore a polyphonic synths, a Roland Jupiter 4, on which he could play up to four keys simulaneously .
On these two, now historical, synthesizers Rey made his first compositions which he afterwards taped on a four track casette recorder. This was the beginning that inspired him to continue with his compositions to which he has been dedicated ever since. Later he obtained his 8 track Fostex reeltape recorder for being able to record more tracks and a better sound quality.
Rey is featuring this Tangerine Dream tribute with interpretations of "Cloud Burst Flight", "Tangram set 1 and 2" and "Logos" under diferent pseudonymes like; Supersonic, Joseph and Aquatic Ghost.
Rey has recorded and produced all the interpretations on this compilations with the great synthesizerhits of the seventies and eighties under the pseudonymes: Supersonic, Aquatic Ghost, Joseph and The Hidden.
Rey is featuring this compilation with his group Solscape with the track "Pleasure". Solscape features Henrik Hjarnø(alias Jox), Nils Harbo(Mohavi) and Rey. This track has also been included in his latest album "Innovative Desert".
Electronic Tribute to Mike Oldfield.Featuring Rey, Bondee Systems, Kenton Files, Sahid, Joseph Featuring Ma Licious, Copenhagen and more.
TECHPOINT STUDIO
Rey has assisted in several tasks at Techpoint Studio, for instance with recordings for multi media projects and a CD for children. Rey is a creative and innovative musician, who also has gifts as sound technician and music producer. He has produced several remix for us, all with creative contents.
It is especially Rey’s skils in electronic music which are remarcable. He is, for example, an expert in programming old vintage synthesizers of which he owns a whole collection. On several occasions Rey has assisted in Techpoint Productions with sound design from these classical instruments.

INSTITUTE OF GALICIAN LANGUAGE
Universidade de Santiago de Compostela
Francisco Dubert García, secretary of the Instituto de Lengua Galega, University of Santiago de Compostela, and coordinator of the research group Filología e Linguística Galega of the USC, informs that: Rey has carried out the digitization of a series of ethnographic recordings made by Gustav Henningsen in Galicia during the 1960s. The digitization has been carried out perfectly, to the complete satisfaction of the members of the Scientific Commitee of this Institute.
